Retired Mine Manager Mosaic

Don came to Esterhazy in the 1960’s to work at the mine and worked his way up to General Manager retiring in 2006. Don & his wife Jean raised 4 boys and were involved in every aspect of the community. Don became involved in health care early in his time in Esterhazy and in 2001 started Charity Golf and has continued to be the driving force behind the success of Charity Golf. Unfortunately, Jean died in 2009. Don’s focus on health care has become a passion for him and he is instrumental in the drive toward a new combined Hospital & Care Home

I have lived in this area all my life and raised my son, Blake, here. I have worked for Mosaic for over 30 years. I joined Charity Golf because I saw an opportunity to work with compassionate people who care about humanity and community and to “pay it forward”. Most importantly, I chose to be involved with fundraising efforts so that everyone in Esterhazy and surrounding areas can have access to great health care when they need it. During the last year and especially the last few months of my dad's life we greatly depended on the hospital and health care system at St. Anthony's. My dad was given amazing care and support from the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Anthony's Hospital and we were grateful for that.

Retired President Goodman Steel Ltd.

I was born in the old hospital and attended Esterhazy schools for my primary and secondary education. In addition, my children lived in Esterhazy until their Grade 12 was completed. Having raised a family here, I fully understand the need to work towards obtaining a Government commitment to building a modern health care facility. I managed and shared ownership in Goodman Steel Ltd. and South East Construction from 1986 to 2013. The companies provide manufacturing and construction services primarily to the local potash industry. With many employees that work in industrial environments, it is extremely important to support a local first-rate health care facility. I am proud to have been part of the Charity Golf Committee for over 10 years. It has been an honour to be able to share my time and energy with all of the committee members that have made this a successful Charity for over 20 years.
